Instructions and answers to frequently asked questions.
Guides
How to install and use Media Organizer.
How Media Organizer works
One catalog of every card and drive, copies you can see, and edit packs that still open months later.
HelpThe first time you open Media Organizer
A short setup asks how many copies of your footage you want and which of your drives hold footage and can store it; then a tour shows the main window.
HelpAdd your drives and camera cards
Label a drive once, and Media Organizer recognises it whenever it comes back, on any letter or computer.
HelpBrowse your recordings
The library lists each recording once, with small icons for its preview, thumbnail, logs and copies on other drives. Files that lost their video are marked so you can find them.
HelpCopy a camera card and know when it is safe to format
Say which camera a card was in, review it and copy it to your storage drives using one folder structure, while preserving its remaining contents.
HelpKeep enough copies of your recordings
Set how many drives must hold every file, see what falls short in the library report, and let Media Organizer plan the missing copies.
HelpFree space taken by extra copies on a drive
Media Organizer finds recordings a drive holds more than once, and recordings your drives hold more often than your copy rule asks, and moves the extra copies aside; you delete them when you are sure.
HelpPrepare an edit pack for DaVinci Resolve
Pick the recordings for an edit, prepare them under permanent names, and let Media Organizer create the Resolve project.
HelpCompanion files and exports: what stays with your recordings
How Media Organizer keeps previews, thumbnails, logs and other files the camera writes together with the recording, and how an export can count as a copy.
HelpRepair recordings that were cut off
Label Insta360 X4 recordings that were cut off by a flat battery or a crash, and repair them into a new file next to the original.
HelpWhat Media Organizer takes in from a drive
Media Organizer takes in your footage and the files that belong with it, and leaves program and system files on the drive. Choose which folders when you add a drive, see what was left out, and change your mind any time.
HelpSend a report when something goes wrong
Help > Save diagnostic report packs Media Organizer's log and what it was doing into one file you send; nothing is sent by itself.
