What counts as commercial use?
Commercial use is any use that is meant to earn money or to support a business. What counts is the project and its purpose, not who you are: a professional can use the free licence for a personal project, and a hobbyist doing paid work needs a commercial licence for that work.
Personal use, free:
- family, holiday, travel and hobby videos
- videos on a personal account or channel from which you receive no monetization revenue, sponsorship or other business income
- editing a friend's personal video without payment
- unpaid school or student projects
Advertisements a platform places on your videos do not make your use commercial, as long as you receive none of that revenue.
Commercial use, needs a paid licence:
- content for an account or channel from which you receive monetization revenue, even when a particular video earns nothing itself
- paid editing, commissioned work and work for clients
- sponsored content, and content that supports affiliate, membership, subscription or donation income
- advertising or promoting a business, product or service
- work for an employer or organisation
If your use becomes commercial, get a commercial licence before you use Two Left Wheels 360 for that work. Nothing is charged for videos you made while your use was personal, and they stay yours to use.
It is an honour system: you choose the licence that fits your use when you install, and the app does not check your accounts, scan your projects or need online activation. The licence agreement shown during installation is what applies. Not sure which licence fits, for example for a charity or a school? Ask us.
