Instructions and answers to frequently asked questions.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers about Two Left Wheels 360.
What is an editing pack, and how is it different from my editor's project?
An editing pack is Two Left Wheels 360's collection of recordings with how they are stitched; your editor's project uses its files.
Frequently askedDo I lose quality compared with exporting from Insta360 Studio?
No. There is one compression step, your final render, and 10-bit recordings stay 10-bit.
Frequently askedDo I have to export my recordings first?
No. Your editor uses the original recordings through the virtual drive.
Frequently askedHow can the files be in the folder if nothing is exported?
The folder is a virtual drive: the content of its files is made when a program reads it.
Frequently askedDo I have to edit with proxies?
Yes. Full resolution can be looked at, but it does not play; you edit on proxies.
Frequently askedDo I need Insta360 or DJI software, or Adobe Premiere Pro?
No. Stitching is built in.
Frequently askedCan I reframe my footage with it?
Reframing stays in your editor, with the plugin you already use.
Frequently askedWhich cameras are supported?
Insta360 X4, X5 and X6, and DJI Osmo 360 and Osmo 360 II. More are planned.
Frequently askedCan I use lens guards or a dive case?
Not yet: the stitching is made for the bare lenses. Send us recordings made with them.
Frequently askedWhich editors can I use?
Any Windows editor that opens MOV files and edits with proxies. Tested with DaVinci Resolve Studio.
Frequently askedDoes Two Left Wheels 360 change or copy my recordings?
No. Recordings are only read, and the stitched files are not copies.
Frequently askedWill it fill up my C: drive?
No. It keeps small proxy files on your disk, a fraction of the size of your recordings, never a stitched copy of them.
Frequently askedCan I archive an edit and come back to it later?
Yes. Keep the camera files and your editor project; nothing has to be exported again.
Frequently askedWhat does it cost?
Free for personal use. Commercial use needs a paid licence.
Frequently askedWhat counts as commercial use?
Any use meant to earn money or support a business. What counts is the project, not who you are.
Frequently askedDoes it need the internet or collect data?
No telemetry. Editing works offline.
Frequently askedDo I need an NVIDIA graphics card?
No. NVIDIA is needed only for image-based stabilization refinement.
Frequently askedDoes it run on macOS or Linux?
No. Two Left Wheels 360 runs on Windows.
Frequently askedWhere do I download it?
On the Download page, after signing in with the link we email you.
Frequently askedIs the stitching as good as the camera makers' own?
That is the aim it is measured against.
Frequently askedWho makes Two Left Wheels 360?
Two Left Wheels, independently of the camera makers.
Frequently askedHow does it work with MediaOrganizer?
MediaOrganizer will offer these features from inside it when it is released.
