Create an editing pack and add recordings
An editing pack holds recordings that belong together, with how they are stitched. Its recordings appear as video files in the editing pack's folder on the virtual drive, where your editor uses them. Nothing is copied or converted first. An editing pack is not your editor's project: your editor's project imports the files of one or more editing packs. The ? next to Editing pack in the main window says the same.
- Open Two Left Wheels 360. The current editing pack is at the top, with a line that sums up its settings.
- To start another editing pack, click New… next to the Editing pack list. Give it a name and choose its settings, then click Create. See Editing pack settings. Its folder appears on the drive at once, even before it has recordings.
- Click + Add files… and choose recordings from any folder or disk: INSV files from an Insta360 camera or OSV files from a DJI Osmo 360 or Osmo 360 II.
Keep each recording's proxy file, LRV or LRF, in the same folder as the recording: you edit on the proxies. When a recording has no proxy file, Two Left Wheels 360 makes one in the background, which takes about as long as the recording plays. The Status column shows the progress, for example Ready · making editing copy (62%), and until it is ready that recording is slow to edit.
Every Insta360 recording is checked as it is added. One that was cut off while recording, by a power loss or a crash, is not added: the Damaged recordings window lists it and can repair it into a new copy beside the original, which is then added instead. See Troubleshooting. - The list shows each recording's source folder, the name your editor sees, when it was recorded, its length, the camera and a status. Ready means the file is on the drive.
- Under 2, Edit in, choose your editor. Click Open folder to open the editing pack's folder on the drive and import the files from there. With DaVinci Resolve, the buttons below do it for you: see Import into DaVinci Resolve.
To take recordings out of an editing pack, select them and click Remove. The original recordings are not touched. Right-click a recording for Preview, Export stitched files… and Remove. Recordings without sound, such as timelapses, are added as video only.
